Identification of  habitations and their coverage status is based on habitation survey 2003 and
subsequent coverage under various programme upto 2010-11

Norms for Full Coverage of Habitation

1
Entire population of a habitation getting basic minimum quantity of potable water within a distance

of 500 m. from the household ferom either a public or a community source and the max. time

taken for fetching water is 30 minutes.

2
Quantity of potable water to be provided is 40 litres/ capita/ day based on the basic minimum need

However this norm may vary based on water availibility, demand, capital cost involved, affordibility

etc. In areas having acute water quality problems and whre the cost of alternate safe drinking

will entail huge capital cost, 10 lpcd of potable water may be supplied and the balance domestic

requirement can be met from other nearby source(s)

3
Priority to be given to habitations where none(0%) or part of the population has access to adequate

and safe drinking water and to the SC/ST and minority dominated habitations.

Note :

Number of "NC" habitations indicated above incude habitations which are quality affected

besides habitations with water supply service level less than 10 lpcd.
