Ganga Action Plan-Phase-II
The Public Health Engineering Department has been entrusted with implementation of Ganga Action Plan (GAP) Phase-II Programme in four Non-KMD Municipal towns (jiagani-Ajimganj, Katwa, Diamond Harbour and Murshidabad) on river Ganga. Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for all the schemes have been submitted to KMDA-the Nodal Agency for GAP in West Bengal for obtaining approval of Government of India. During
2004-05, schemes for all four towns have been approved by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India at a total estimated cost of Rs. 5.88 crore. Among the above work of Jiaganj-Azimganj Municipality have already been completed and commissioned. Similarly the work of Murshidabad municipal town is on the verge of completion. The work in the rest of the municipalities are presently in progress.
